Fuel advances
Fill up now and repay from the next few payouts. Sized to what you typically earn in a week, not to what you hope to earn.
Credit built for people whose income arrives in small amounts, often — drivers, couriers and traders. Advances are scored from what you actually do on the platform, repaid automatically from future payouts, at one flat cost shown in full before you accept.
One flat fee. No compounding, no rollover, and no penalty that grows while you are not looking. Repaying early does not increase the cost.
Fill up now and repay from the next few payouts. Sized to what you typically earn in a week, not to what you hope to earn.
Cover a repair that would otherwise stop you working. Paid to the garage directly where that is the faster route back on the road.
Short-term capital for traders and small businesses with platform history, repaid from takings rather than on a fixed monthly date.
For businesses collecting through ThumaPay, an advance against future collections, repaid as a share of each day's takings.
Employers can let staff draw earned wages before payday, with the cost shown to the employee before they take it.
Longer-term, asset-backed financing towards a vehicle or equipment, where the asset itself supports the facility.
Buy-now-pay-later at checkout is part of the same roadmap, and will launch once the microfinance licence is granted and consumer-credit disclosure is built into the flow.
Traditional credit scoring fails people with no bank history and no payslip. Platform activity is a better signal, and we already hold it — with permission, and for this purpose.
Completed trips or deliveries, earnings consistency, cancellations and ratings over time — evidence of a working pattern, not a snapshot.
Route and activity data from work already done on Thuma services, used to assess whether an advance is affordable from realistic earnings.
How previous advances were repaid. Repaying well raises your limit; missed repayments lower it before it becomes a problem.
Against a limit already calculated from your activity. You see the limit before you ask, so there is no speculative application.
Amount, flat fee, statutory tax, per-payout deduction and total repayable — on one screen, before you accept.
Approved advances disburse to your ThumaPay wallet in real time, because a fuel advance that arrives tomorrow is useless.
A fixed share of each payout is applied until the advance is cleared. The remaining balance is visible at any time.
Show the total cost in cash terms before you accept. Size advances to demonstrated earnings. Cap what any one person can hold at a time. Let you repay early without penalty. Tell you when a request is declined, and why.
Roll an unpaid advance into a bigger one. Compound fees. Charge a penalty that grows silently. Advertise more credit to someone whose history says they should not take it. Call something a loan when it is structured as an advance.
